Here at Capital Toyota, we are all about giving back to the community and were absolutely honored to be able to work with Honoring the Sacrifice to supply Corporal Daniel Palmer and his family with a new Toyota Sienna van.
In 2010, Cpl. Palmer was serving with the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment when his life was changed forever. While on patrol in Afghanistan, he lost his right leg and sustained other life-altering injuries after stepping on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
While surprising the Palmer family with a Toyota Sienna of their own was very exciting, our F&I Manager, Mike Reno, set up another exciting adventure for Daniel – a tandem skydive. Check out Daniel’s experience falling from the sky in the video below.
We would also like to give a big shout out to WUSY US-101 for receiving the American Patriot Award from Honoring the Sacrifice during the annual American Heroes Dinner. This award is presented to a company, organization, or individual who demonstrates a commitment to supporting and assisting our nation’s wounded veterans.
Thank you to Honoring the Sacrifice for allowing Capital Toyota to be supporter of your wonderful events for the last four years. And a huge thank you to all the men and women who have served and sacrificed so much – you and your families are all our heroes. “We owe a debt to the veterans that we cannot pay.”
Here’s a new entry for the record books: the world’s fastest SUV.
Toyota claimed the title recently with a bit engineering prowess and the help of NASCAR driver Carl Edwards behind the wheel of a Toyota Land Cruiser. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to reach the Land Cruiser’s shocking top speed of 230 mph with the standard model, but all it took the team and Toyota test driver behind the feat was a few engine modifications and additional stability, and their little project became a world record-holder.
So, what did it take? Engineers behind the modified Land Cruiser started with the SUV’s mass-production 5.7-liter V8 engine that usually delivers 381 horsepower, but with the help of two additional turbochargers and other setup adjustments to the acceleration, handling, and stability, they were able to increase the Land Cruiser’s output to a whopping 2,000 horsepower. You won’t be able to get that kind of powerful off a production line.
While it took the team two tries in order to achieve that record-setting speed of 230 mph, what matters is that they got the job done, granting the Toyota Land Cruiser the title of world’s fastest SUV. We at Capital Toyota don’t quite have the ability to give you that kind of power, but if you’re interested in the standard Land Cruiser model, we’d be happy to get you behind the wheel for a test drive.
The 2018 Toyota CH-R may have gotten its world debut at 2016 Geneva Auto Show, but fans recently got their first glance at the new, segment-defying vehicle on American soil at the Los Angeles Auto Show, where the vehicle was on full display.
This compact-sized vehicle has the makings of an SUV in a much smaller package, making it ideal for young drivers and small families. Its chief competitors are likely to be the Chevy Trax, Nissan Juke, and other similarly-sized models.
The new Toyota CH-R’s features include a 2-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 144 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque, and the new pint-sized sports utility vehicle is built on the same foundational structure of the much-loved Toyota Prius.
While we don’t yet know pricing for the vehicle, we do know that it will come with the many standard safety features that Toyota Safety Sense has to offer, such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control.
If you would like to learn more about the upcoming 2018 Toyota CH-R or would just like to check out the many other vehicles that Toyota has to offer, contact us or visit us any time here at Capital Toyota in Chattanooga, TN.
Another year has come and gone; another year has passed with Toyota as the world’s leading automaker.
That’s right, with both Volkswagen and General Motors in its wake, Toyota sold more vehicles than any other company in the world during 2015. As of the end of November alone, Toyota was 200,000 units ahead of Volkswagen.
From January to November of 2015, Toyota reported selling nearly 9.3 million vehicles across the globe, a truly astonishing figure. Volkswagen reported selling about 9.3 million vehicles, while GM reported about 8.8 million.
Overall, the automotive industry sold slightly less this year than last, with even Toyota reporting about a 1.9% decrease, mirrored by Volkswagen and GM. However, we have seriously high hopes for 2016, with all the incoming models Toyota has prepared.
Want to check out a vehicle from the world’s most popular automaker? To learn more about Toyota’s current line-up or to explore the many vehicles we have available, visit us anytime at Capital Toyota.
Toyota drivers tend to be concerned with fuel efficiency and emissions, which is why they choose cars like the Prius or the Camry Hybrid when they shop at Capital Toyota. It’s also why they care about how the cars are made and where they come from.
In its latest efforts to make the process of getting an efficient car into your hands, Toyota developed a car hauler that runs on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), which emits about 85% less overall particulate matter, including 10% less carbon dioxide. In other words, it makes your Toyota cleaner before you even start it.
The truck was built as an experiment to evaluate its performance and efficiency compared to the current trucks, which run on diesel. Initially, the placement of alternate fuel tanks presented a challenge to the designers, as it interfered with the over-the-cab head rack, but they were able to get around it through some engineering wizardry.
The CNG truck is expected to run an average of 7,000 to 8,000 miles per month. After enough tests, Toyota may elect to convert all of its car haulers to CNG power. Incredible!
When you think about the Toyota lineup, what is the least likely vehicle that you would expect to see sport-tuned? If you said the Sienna minivan, you would be wrong. For Toyota’s 2015 SEMA lineup, it displayed a Toyota Sienna R-Tuned concept.
SEMA is the Specialist Equipment Market Association, and each year it holds a fantastic event in Las Vegas to show all that the custom world has to offer.
This R-Tune Sienna takes the “Swagger Wagon” to a whole new level with performance tires, wheels, brakes, double-adjustable shocks with racing springs, and a clutch-type limited-slip differential. All this combines to deliver a performance like you would never believe from a minivan.
Even with the stock 3.5-liter V6 and six-speed automatic transmission, the Toyota Sienna R-Tuned concept outpaced a 6.2-liter V8 Camaro SS. At the Streets of Willow Springs, the Sienna R-Tune posted a 1:27 lap time around the 1.7-mile course—this was a full second ahead of the Camaro.
“When we produced the Sienna SE, we started moving in the direction of more sportiness beyond what you would find in a family hauler,” said Andrew Lund, chief engineer for the Sienna at Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in a statement. “With the Sienna R-Tuned, we wanted to see if we could create a vehicle that would push the limits even farther. We definitely proved that it’s possible.”
While you won’t be seeing the Sienna R-Tuned on any showroom floors, this might make you rethink what you’ve always thought about minivans! Come see the new Toyota Sienna today at Capital Toyota.
Toyota has unveiled its new 2016 Prius, and forget for a moment its great fuel efficiency—this car boasts serious style. Say goodbye to the Prius of days past – in an effort to breathe new life into the efficient and wildly-successful hybrid, the 2016 Toyota Prius’ style is sleek, edgy, and modern.
Because gas prices are at the lowest level seen in years, consumers don’t necessarily need super-efficient vehicles. Instead, Toyota hopes that a refreshed design and long list of exciting features will make the Prius desirable not only for its incredible efficiency, but for head-turning, modern style.
“We’ve got the whole package now,” said Bill Fay, general manager of the Toyota Division in the United States. “People will want to buy this car for more than just the fuel efficiency.”
According to the Detroit Free Press, the 2016 Toyota Prius will earn about 55 mpg in combined driving, a 10 percent improvement over the 2015 version. It will be 2 inches longer than the current car, it will sit almost an inch lower, and get a new suspension which will give it a lower center of gravity. Drivers should expect sportier handling and a smoother, more refined ride.
Look for the 2016 Toyota Prius to arrive at Capital Toyota early next year!

Earlier this month, Toyota celebrated innovation in the automotive industry by recognizing many of its engineers and researchers who have been awarded patents during the past year. One of these patent recipients was Nora Arellano, who was recognized for receiving the 1000th patent issued to Toyota’s North American Manufacturing and Engineering headquarters.
Arellano’s patent was for side curtain airbags used in the Toyota Tundra. This was her eighth patent. She was also included in the list of “Michigan’s Most Valuable Millennials” by Corp! Magazine.
In addition to Arellano, 114 other Toyota engineers and researchers were honored at the event. Toyota North American CEO Jim Lentz spoke to the group at the Michigan Science Center.
“These patents represent your brainpower, your innovation, your diligence, your hard work and your passion,” Lentz said, in a statement. “Patents were essential in creating Toyota in 1937 and are equally important today in protecting the innovative products and processes you invent to make our customers’ experience the best in the business.”
Here at Capital Toyota, we are proud to be a part of a company that recognizes the importance of innovation.
The battle to be America’s best-selling car is constant and heated, perhaps more so now than ever before, since the sedan market has experienced such an incredible explosion over the last couple years. That added level of competition makes the Camry’s continued reign atop the sales charts even more impressive. Even more impressive, the Camry sells just behind the three pickup trucks atop the American sales market..
Of course, when you check out the Camry, you’ll easily see why it’s such a popular fan favorite. It has a starting price of just under $23,000, gets up to 35 mpg on the highway, and comes with all kinds of options too—from the Entune infotainment system to several different powertrains. In fact, you can get the Toyota Camry with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a 3.5-liter V6, or even a hybrid powertrain setup.
With excellent fuel economy, powertrain options, and tons of technology, it’s certainly no surprise to us here at Capital Toyota that the Camry continues to sell so well. In fact, the Camry has sold 134,571 units through April, and that momentum should continue all through the rest of the year. Come see us here at Capital Toyota to learn more about the 2015 Toyota Camry today!
